The current edition of the George Borrow Society Bulletin

Cover of the current George Borrow Bulletin The Spring 2017 George Borrow Bulletin is now out (Series 2, No. 14) and members should have received their copy in May 2017.

It includes an account of our very pleasant Christmas 2016 meal at the Herford Arms, a walk through some of the tales from Borrow’s translation The Turkish Jester, a very interesting find about The clergyman of M—, the life of George Borrow’s son-in-law, William MacOubrey, and a good deal more.  There’s excellent illustration for The Turkish Jester and we even have a rare picture of MacOubrey’s brother, John.

The Society always welcomes new members and if you’d like to join, please see the details on our Web page.  We usually meet twice a year, visit places associated with Borrow, and have excellent talks.  The Bulletin, as you can see, always contains a great deal of interest and is often commended for it’s high standard of research: to which thanks go to our beloved editor, Ann.

In addition to our Facebook group Trish has recently started a Twitter account: see the links on the left of the page for details.
