Portrait of George Borrow

A Journey to Eastern Europe in 1844, edited by Angus M. Fraser

In April 1844 George Borrow undertook a journey to Eastern Europe that was to last until November.  Borrow never published an account of the journey, but in this book Sir Angus Fraser (the late president of the George Borrow Society), published thirteen of the letters George Borrow wrote whilst on the journey and these fill in a lot of the details.  As an expert on George Borrow Sir Angus greatly enhanced the value of the letters by his careful editing and notes.

Only 140 copies of this book were published (in 1981 by The Tragara Press) so if you want a copy see our out of print books page.
